Position Title: Preschool Education Officer Classification: Exempt

Position Summary:

As the Preschool Head Start Education Officer, you will play a key leadership role in delivering high-quality early childhood education across four sites and nine classrooms. Reporting to the Education Manager, you will oversee classroom operations, ensuring full compliance with Head Start Performance Standards. This position is responsible for guiding and supporting teams of Teachers and Teacher Aides, promoting strong instructional practices, nurturing positive teacher-child interactions, and ensuring smooth transitions for children and families. Your work will help ensure meaningful outcomes for children and families, and help maintain program excellence.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the daily operations of the BVCA Children Services Department as part of the Head Start Management Team.

  • Lead and manage the Head Start Education service area, including disabilities, overseeing program development, coordination, and execution, ensuring inclusive practices and support services are in place.

  • Provide strategic leadership in designing and implementing educational components that align with program goals and standards.

  • Offer expert guidance and training to staff, parents, and community stakeholders on school readiness, early learning goals, and the Head Start Child Development and Early Learning Framework, Creative Curriculum, Teaching Strategies, CLASS, and other relevant educational frameworks, utilizing effective coaching and mentoring strategies.

  • Model professionalism and cultural sensitivity, fostering positive, respectful relationships with staff, families, and partners.

  • Demonstrate strong verbal and written communication skills to effectively engage with a variety of audiences.

  • Promote a safe, clean, and healthy work environment that supports staff and child well-being.

  • Pursue ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices and regulatory updates in early childhood education.

  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and agency regulations, maintaining the highest standards of quality and accountability.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Higher Education degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Development. (Bachelor’s preferred).
  2. Must have a minimum of 1-year experience working in an early childhood setting.
  3. Supervisory experience and/or demonstration of successful team leadership.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  1. Preference will be given to applicant that has at least a Bachelor’s or advanced degree in the discipline of Early Childhood Education OR a Bachelor’s in a related field with equivalent coursework and experience in early childhood education/development.
  2. Experience working with and/or detailed knowledge of Head Start Performance Standards and/or NE State Child Care Licensing Regulations preferred.
  3. Knowledge and experience in mentoring and coaching.
